Network Endures Attacks After Momentous Year

It's been an up and down year for Orion Talk Radio. The Shoutcast rankings have seen the station soar, seemingly overnight, from 400,000 listeners to 1.5 million listeners in just a 90 day period of time during late summer of 2012. More times than not, OTR has had more listeners than both of its rivals combined, however, with the sudden rise in popularity has also come a rise in nefarious attention. 

Since vaulting forward, the station has undergone many cyber attacks on its website and its audio players. A look down this column will reveal a litany of attacks, with many pointing their finger at possible government influence. The station has recovered after the latest cyber attack locked  the network down on Saturday, April 20th.

During this tribulation, the station has weathered the loss of hosts that it sought to keep, but fortunately enough, our programming team is ever watchful for talent. The station has added three great new shows with America Talks, News Stalker, and Live Truth, with a new night show to be announced soon.

Orion has been extremely fortunate to find many hosts with commercial broadcast experience. New hosts David Zublick, Stephen Williams, Bob Green, Erich Headricks, and Brian Lange bring a long history of radio background with them, as well as the same passion and dedication for truth that Orion has come to be known and respected for.

The station endures because of a collective spirit, one that doesn't just emanate from those who make up its staff and deliver the broadcasts, but from those of you who listen. We are very much aware of this at Orion Talk Radio and we value our listeners for their patriotism. We share their passion for liberty and their determination to defend our country and the Constitution that protects it. 

There are many in this country who have woken up and they are not happy with what they have discovered. They are angry at the corporate mainstream media for lying to them and withholding the truth. Orion Talk Radio has become a daily part of many people's lives and we accept that trust with great respect and the utmost appreciation for their support.

This is an undeniably tumultuous moment in our history. Orion Talk Radio is here to further the movement for truth in the US and the world. We can do nothing without you, for it is YOU who they fear. It is an informed populace that they scares them the most. This is why Orion has been targeted, but with your help we will take this country back.

Orion Talk Radio Sabotaged On April 20th
Network Hacked / Live Broadcasting Was Shut Down

Orion Talk Radio was the recipient of a recent computer hack that shut the network down to all live programming. As of Saturday afternoon, the network was unable to deliver live broadcasting. One thing is certain to network technicians, the attack was deliberate and with malicious intent. Orion has an IP trail with some leads to consider. Please bear with us as we work to correct this issue.

Orion Archive Problem Solved
GoDaddy Fails To Find Answer, On Their Own Site!

The Orion Talk Radio Archives page has had a most inconvenient interruption since Friday, March 15th at around 6pm ET. At that time, neither the Buffalo home office, or the Minneapolis web end could upload via FTP to GoDaddy. This stopped our automatic archive system from posting the normal updates after each show.

During the course of at least 15 calls, lasting well over 20 hours, Orion was given every excuse under the sun, but not one of them explained the issue, nor fixed it. In the end, GoDaddy just gave up. They said they just couldn't figure it out and that we were free to leave if we wanted.

Fortunately, an intrepid technician and good friend of this network, Shad from Toando.com was able to find the answer to the problem... right on the GoDaddy tech forum webpage! The answer was right in their tech files all along.

Thanks to Shad, our FTP clients have been readjusted to resume uploading of the archives once again. The older archives missing since March will be uploaded by hand.

Inspired by Howard Beale from the 1976 movie Network, Tim is Mad As Hell about the state of our world. Rapid Fire Leaves The Orion Air Waves
Mike Powers' Personal Schedule Becomes Conflict

Orion Talk Radio is sad to report that the show Rapid Fire is leaving the Saturday night line-up. After five weeks of broadcasts, Mike's work schedule has changed, thus not allowing him the free time necessary to do show prep and fulfill his broadcast schedule.

We will very much miss Mike's passion, his insight and his drive to stop the new world order. Mike is extremely dedicated in what he does and that determination will not stop just because he cannot continue on with his show.

Mike has agreed to still come on the air at Orion for guest stints, when his schedule allows for it. For that we are most thankful and we will certainly be more than happy to take him when we can get him.

New Sound Card Increases Audio Clarity

The new audio card was installed by OTR owner and chief technician Jimmy X. The sound difference is visibly noticeable. We sincerely hope that you like the difference. Down The Rabbit Hole Goes Monday Through Friday
Tuesday and Thursday Replays Added To Schedule

As of January 15th Down The Rabbit Hole can now be heard each weeknight. Since all other nighttime shows are live each weeknight, Orion has, for now, supplemented its schedule by adding Tuesday and Thursday replays of DTRH from 11pm to midnight to fill out the schedule. This timeslot will feature rebroadcasts of Down The Rabbit Hole, but there will be some occasional times where the show might also be live. The replays of DTRH help fill out the schedule so that each Orion nighttime show is now on fulltime five days, Monday through Friday.

We have a brilliant programmer from Texas who has cleverly been able to stave off these attacks, to a point, however, the attacks have now become regionalized and are difficult for us to pinpoint and diagnose. The Earth Need Rebels duo of Kevin Bull and Andrew Peacher interviewed film producer Chad Meek and actor Kevin Gage (Waingro from the 1995 movie thriller "Heat") regarding a new film in the works called "Giant Rock." This movie is billed as the greatest UFO story never told and is based on the legendary life of reputed ET contactee George Van Tassel. Meek is the nephew of Von Tassel who once told him, "You don't believe in aliens? You will."

As always, Andy and Kevin had a fascinating discussion with the movie's main collaborators. Many people in the film industry have come together on this project. Orion Archives Add Older OTR Programs
System Re-Coded To Make Deeper Archive System

The Orion Talk Radio Archives page is undergoing an overhaul, to finally add in the older programs that have been missing since the website was rebuilt. A flaw has been identified in the system that does not allow for the recognition of programs according to the shows and hosts. The original programmers omitted a two-digit code that would be able to identify a program accordingly. Currently the system works off date and time only, so the temporary fix has been to add two spots in the archive for those shows that have switched times. We are currently working to change this flaw in the archive system. More shows are being added day by day, so please keep checking for more updates to come.

The Sound of Freedom Moves To New Time
To ease his west coast schedule, Ryan Brooks will be moving his highly popular Sound of Freedom broadcast to a new time, 12-2am ET, beginning Monday (1/21). This will give Orion Talk Radio a decided boost in late night ratings, but also a stronger presence with west coast listeners at 9pm PT.

While we will miss Ryan in his earlier time slot, we are thrilled to still have him as a part of the Orion Talk Radio family. We wish Ryan well in his move to midnight ET and encourage his loyal listeners to stay tuned. The Sound of Freedom can also be found on the Orion archives page for those who can't keep the later hours, but still want to hear Brooksie bash the corrupt powers that be. The Manfred Minute Has Arrived On Orion
The Manfred Minute has officially joined the Orion line-up to fill the 8pm hour Monday through Friday. The show is the second program from our good neighbors to the north in Canadistan. Hosted by John Manfred, the show is all about education and information. It's a hard wake-up slap into reality, much like that first slap on the ass by the doctor after birth, to bring you screaming into the real world. Mr. Manfred will shock listeners at times with the cold harshness of life as you may not know it, but after all is said and done, listeners will realize that he is right on the money.

John fits in well with the Orion staff because he is a no holds barred kind of guy who isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Find out what all the fuss is about, weeknights at 8pm.

Orion Assaulted With Denial of Service Attack
Archives Page Blocked; Audio Players Stifled

Sadly enough, Orion Talk Radio has once again come under a denial of service attack from outside forces. The station archives page was blocked on Tuesday (1/13). Calls and emails began pouring in early in the morning, alerting us to the problem.

What could possibly be on the archives page that would suddenly get it blocked? More than likely it could be the bombshell Sunday night (1/13) Conspiracy Chronicles show that exposed the corruption stemming from the Council On Foreign Relations (CFR) and its pervasive links throughout the US government and the corporate mainstream media. The show, produced by The Freedom Link (M-F 9PM) with Joe Joseph and Tim watts, exposed the entangling alliances extending from the CFR, while naming many government officials and media members involved in the corruption.

We have posted the link for the CFR show in the right column of this page, in the event that the archive page should ever become blocked again. We encourage folks to download the Conspiracy Chronicles CFR program directly from the archives before it disappears again.

Just as important, Morning Brew host Gwen Caldwell has also done much exposing of her own, but on the recent Newtown Sandy Hook shootings, so there is certainly much in the archives that someone certainly does not want you to hear.

Also affected in the attack was the station's pop-up player and the streaming audio player on each page, blocking the airing of Orion Talk Radio. The only conclusion that we can draw from the repeated attacks is that we must be doing something right because we've incurred a lot of similar attacks in the last few months. Canada Live Extends Its Weekend Hours

The very popular Canada Live program with John & Ron has stepped up the fight by adding an extra hour to their Sunday show. The program will now start an hour early at 12 noon, giving Orion listeners three hours of the dynamic duo from north of the border.

The new show will air from 12-3 pm (ET), much to the delight of Canada Live fans. These guys clearly get it. They break down the big issues that affect us all. Even though they're from Canada, they understand politics and the issues that we face in the states.

Woolery had this to say about the recent mass shootings and the Diane Feinstein gun grab, "To blame guns for these tragedies would be like blaming airplanes for the 9/11 attacks." In a light hearted moment, he was also asked if he could make a Love Connection with Feinstein and noted gun activist Ted Nugent, a reference to one of his former TV hit game shows.

Orion Talk Radio Defends 1st Amendment
Free Speech Is Not A Right To Hate Speech

Orion Talk Radio would like to clarify a most unfortunate situation in regards to our stance on "hate speech." Some unsettling and unfair views were expressed by a few hosts towards people of Jewish ancestry, singling them out as the sole cause of evil in this world. We find those views to be deplorable and factually unfounded.

So, let us make our position perfectly clear for all to understand... we defend all people's rights. We do not believe that you can lump all people of a nationality or religion together and call them bad. That is simply an asinine and ignorant position to hold. It is ridiculous to believe that an entire religion or nationality of people are inherently bad or evil. It just isn't so. Period.

One of the misperceptions of the 1st amendment is that we can say whatever we want, no matter how incendiary the statement might be. Yes, we all have the right to free speech in the US, but that right comes with the use of common sense.

Case in point... you are not allowed to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater. Sure, you have the right to do so, but does that make it right to do? Why not go ahead and try this one out for yourself and see where it gets you?

There are also laws regarding libel and slander to be considered, so, to be sure, our hallowed 1st amendment rights do come with a bit of common sense.

All too often, those who wish to engage in such reckless talk will always attempt to hide their offensive speech behind the Constitutional right to free speech. In the case of "Jew bashing," it is all to easy to prove that those who choose this path of discourse are the ones who are guilty of denying people's 1st amendment rights. They choose to forget that the 1st amendment defends more than just free speech.

As part of the US Constitutional Bill of Rights, the 1st amendment guarantees (and we quote here)...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It is notable that free speech is not mentioned first. It is freedom of religion. Our forefathers valued that right very much, so much so that it is the very first thing outlined by the Bill of Rights!

It is also patently clear that those who choose to violate this sacred rule are undeniably making a mockery of the 1st amendment, disregarding one portion to support another. They selectively choose to disregard one of its most hallowed precepts, and then feebly try to support it with the second precept, freedom of speech.

You can't have it both ways folks. It's pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain to reason with. Unfortunately, hate has no reason.

With the above in mind, Orion Talk Radio has adopted a policy manual for its hosts, forbidding the use of hate speech towards people of specific religious affiliations, color, nationality, or any form of racial ethnicity.

To be clear, we defend the 1st amendment, in its entirety.

We do not believe that all Jewish people are bad. We defend all people's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. At OTR, we vigilantly defend the dream of our forefathers, that all men are created equal.

Unfortunately, three hosts were incensed with our public apology that is printed below. They immediately took to the Orion airwaves with a maniacal outrage, incorrectly declaring that their 1st amendment rights were being violated. The absurdity is mind boggling. The hypocrisy is glaring.

Hopefully, with the clarity of the 1st amendment printed above, you can see what an outrageous oxymoron this truly is. One can only make such a false claim out of ignorance, blind stupidity, or just wanton disregard for our Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

These three hosts then used Orion's own station airwaves to attack the network and its owner. To be factual, these rogue hosts were allowed the right to free speech as they viciously and maliciously verbally assaulted Orion Talk Radio. The OTR programming team sat by and listened in shock and horror as these hosts each took their turn in unfairly slandering the network and its owner. No one cut them off. No one deprived them of their right to speak.

To be perfectly clear, no one fired them. They each quit on their own.

Strangely enough, one other talk radio outlet has chosen to blatantly disregard the 1st amendment, allowing its hosts to denigrate people of Jewish descent. They have now also given a platform to some of the disgruntled ex-OTR hosts, to go on their radio airwaves with slanderous statements that are factually incorrect, if not outright lies. To them we say, you might want to lawyer up. Recorded audio tape is indeed factual evidence in a slander hearing.

Orion Talk Radio extends its remorse over unexpected and regretful incidents of anti-Semitic hate speech that went out over our station air waves and wrongly conveyed that all people of Jewish ancestry and religion are evil or bad. To be fair, commenting about Zionist ideology and the Israeli government are one thing, but to claim that all Jews are bad is an extreme far right viewpoint that has no place in the media, and most especially not on Orion Talk Radio.

We fully support the right to free speech, but we also understand that free speech does not sanction or support the right to hate speech, that which denigrates an entire ethnic culture, or singles out those of a specific color or religious affiliation. A precious, hallowed right such as the first amendment was never intended to be used for hate speech, nor to target specific groups by ethnicity or color.

Let us be public and perfectly clear on this divisive issue: Orion Talk Radio does not condone ideology such as this and has already taken internal steps to remedy the issue, implementing policy within to ensure that such an incident doesn't happen again, by setting procedures in place that allow for immediate dismissal upon violation of said policy.

As a sign of our commitment and sensitivity to this issue, a zero tolerance policy has been enacted. At Orion Talk Radio, we refuse to follow the dark path of divisive hateful speech. Orion Audio Stream Gets Hijacked

Tuesday has been an interesting day. The Orion Talk Radio stream was deliberately hijacked. Our player code was hacked and replaced with a Latino broadcast stream.

It is notable that Orion first started having major issues after our three part expose with filmmaker John Hankey on the Bush family crime syndicate. We've had nothing but trouble ever since then.

Coincidence? Perhaps.

What is obvious is that Orion was deliberately attacked once again, because this came from the back end, from the Shoutcast server side. The Orion radio stream was switched from our audio stream to a foreign Latino audio stream. To accomplish that, someone had to manually change our player code and physically go beyond the already established security that we put in place to stop this type of issue.

We can only speculate that this means we must be doing a good job, because we appear to have drawn the wrath of the so-called powers that be. If this is indeed the case, then awesome. We're on the right track.

To that end, all we can say to them is "bring it" because we're not going to stop delivering the truth. Nice try guys.

Orion Updates Internal Audio Hardware

The crack technical crew behind Orion Talk Radio, aka, Jimmy X, has recently upgraded the audio hardware system for the station. Listeners will notice a distinctly cleaner and crisper sound, thanks to the new audio and its companion software drivers. The new audio card was installed on Friday night (10/26) between 8 and 9 eastern time. An immediate difference has been noted by all.

Apparently there was a known conflict with Skype and the previous Realtek audio card. The switch to a higher end card should hopefully clear up a lot of audio issues that emanated from the conflict with Skype. We sincerely hope that your Orion audio experience improves as well.

Orion Website Features New Custom Players

Featured in the upper left corner of every Orion webpage, the new black player can be started from each page, however, for those that like a popup player so that they can keep listening and move on to other pages and websites, there is a new player for that too. A year later, Orion Talk Radio has grown to 1.2 million listeners in over 30 days, according to the summer 2012 Shoutcast stream rankings for the period ending Aug 2nd. This rapid growth is extremely heartening and proves conclusively that people are indeed seeking alternative news sources.

Sunscreen Re-Make Gives Orion Tribute

A new re-make of the 1997 Baz Luhrmann spoken-word hit Sunscreen has been released. The new version has been contemporized to address the post-9/11 world and the police state that has descended upon the US and the rest of the world.

The re-make was the idea of Orion Talk Radio co-host Tim Watts who broadcasts with Joe Joseph on the FreedomLink program. "The idea was to get the information out to people in a new fashion that was short, yet with an emotional touch that would resonate with the populace," said Watts. "We also wanted to use the production as a vehicle to introduce more people to Orion Talk Radio."

To date, over 27-thousand people have viewed the video on YouTube and Vimeo, although many questions have since arisen about suspected censorship and holding back the hit counter to prevent it from making YouTube's most viewed listing. Despite thousands of likes being registered on YouTube, how is it that Vimeo shows none? Whatever the true numbers, it does mean that at least 27,000 people were exposed to the ad for the Orion Talk Radio Network, a key design of the production.

For many who already listen, the ad was a reinforcer, but for those who've never listened, the ad was an introduction. It is hoped that listenership will increase as a result of the video.

The video was picked up by well over 25 YouTube channels, as well as posted and written about on over 70 websites.

At a time when most Americans, including local police, are finding it impossible to buy ammo, the US government is continuing to stockpile extra lethal hollow point ammunition, prohibited for use in warfare by the Geneva convention.
 

So why is the US government loading up on extra-lethal ammo that is obviously intended for domestic use?
 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has tried to say the ammo is for target practice and that they are buying in bulk to save money, but hollow points cost far more than full metal jackets, and no one uses expensive hollow points for target practice. So much for that excuse.
 

Over 2-billion rounds have been purchased in the last ten months, with 240-thousand rounds bought just last month. Now, DHS is buying another 360-thousand rounds. When totaled, this is enough ammo to pump at least seven rounds into every single man, woman and child in America.
 

At a time when many are concerned about an ever growing US police state, some have suggested that the purchases also serve another function, limiting the amount of ammo that is available for the American public, at a time when Congress is trying to implement public gun control.

The addition of HR 658, which authorizes 30,000 drones for US airspace, has some wondering why the Congress and our government are turning against the American people. During the Bush-Cheney era alone, Federal law enforcement agencies grew by nearly 30-percent from 2004 to 2008.

One thing appears certain, DHS and the US government are preparing for a deadly fight with the American people, and our elected representatives have done nothing to stop it.

The FBI says that murder by gun has gone down for five straight years in a row, even with the questionable mass shootings included. Now, here are the real numbers that they do not want you to know. In a country of 310-million people we had only 8,583 murders by gun. That comes down to just 0.003% of the population. Not even 1% !! That is an infinitesimally diminutive number. It's laughable!

So ask yourself, where is there a gun problem in the US?

These FBI statistics reveal that in a massive population of 310-million people, there were only 8.583 murders by gun in 2011. That is a paltry figure compared to the overall population. (0.003%)

Out of those stats, only 323 murders were committed with some sort of long rifle, yet for some reason they are seeking to take away the one weapon that is a threat, not to the population, but to an organized police state, or an infantry, that would attempt to assault the population. The tragedy of the Sandy Hook mass murders is indeed a black event for US history. The senseless murder of innocent children is one of the most aberrant crimes that a society can face. As a result, the US Congress and President Obama are attempting to add a duality to the mayhem by bringing about a ban on guns in the US. The media is gleefully going along with it, with most of them perpetuating the myth that guns makes us unsafe.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Once again the corporate mainstream media is tragically remiss in its reporting. If only they would do their jobs, they might uncover some basic, easy to find facts as to the true statistics about guns in America.

First off, let's get something straight... violent crime and gun violence have been declining in the United States, for twenty years now, even as gun ownership has risen during that time. The biggest topper, the murder rate has dropped well over 60 percent! As a matter of fact, the New York Times reported in 2011 that violent crimes was at a 40 year low. These are astounding figures that our media fails to report.

Secondly, gun control does NOT stop violence, It is a fact that a complicit US media knows all too well, yet refuses to report. If you want the facts, look to Ireland, a country of roughly 4-million people, but with crime statistics that, per capita, rival those of the US. One can also look no further than our cousins across the pond, to the UK, where guns have already been wrested from the English population, yet violent crimes continue to rise dramatically.

According to Professor John R. Lott, who was interviewed on CNN after the Newtown massacre, "Every place in the world that we have crime data, both before and after a gun ban has gone into effect, every single place has seen an increase in murders after the ban has been put in place. And many times it's been a several-fold or more increase. And there's a simple reason for that, and that is, when you ban guns, it's basically the most-law-abiding citizens who turn in their guns, not the criminals. And rather than making it more difficult for criminals to commit crime, you actually make it easier."

Professor Lott has also offered this key statistic, which the mainstream media has totally ignored... "With just one exception, every public mass shooting in the USA since at least 1950 has taken place where citizens are banned from carrying guns." The killers pick spots with no gun defense.

One thing that many have not yet considered, the proposed illegal anti-2nd amendment Executive Orders by Obama will sadly be counterproductive, because now those who need medical or mental help will no longer take part in a medical system that is mandated to ask if you have guns. This reporter knows firsthand about people who are battling dearly for their lives, yet will now grudgingly opt out of the health care system that they desperately need because it is being set up as a potential tool to restrict law abiding citizens from responsible gun ownership. This is a sad consequence not being considered in the myopia of these not well thought out intrusive new health care mandates.

The blinding irony involved here is, the medical community and big pharma kill far more people per year than guns do.

It's true that those with severe mental illnesses should be scrutinized for gun possession, but mechanisms such as those proposed under the new EO's must have restrictions themselves, to prevent the improper characterization of targeted gun owners as mentally unstable. If those who entertain conspiracy are deemed to be ineligible for gun possession, then let's make sure the government and DOJ are disqualified as well. After all, they prosecute conspiracy every single day. It's a point worth noting.

For those who are drinking the government and corporate media Kool-Aid, the War On Terror has not been a reaction to incidents of alleged terrorism. To the contrary. I never thought that in my lifetime I would ever see a war that would outlast the Viet Nam War. How pitifully wrong I was.

Like all wars, you have to question the political and financial motivation, the latter being the most prominent impetus for war. With that said, we didn't attack Afghanistan because the Taliban wouldn't turn Osama bin Laden over. We did it for pure imperial, capitalist exploitation. The facts are glaring.

One of the first things that Bush and Cheney did after stealing office was to invite the Taliban to the US to discuss an oil and gas pipeline route across Afghanistan to the Caspian sea. The Taliban said no deal. For that reason they became enemies of the Bush-Cheney administration.

One thing should be noted about United States involvement in Afghanistan... the poppy crop now flourishes once again, and US soldiers now guard these lucrative opium and heroin producing fields, rather than burning them. You have to ask yourself, why?

Perhaps the answer becomes more apparent when you realize that the "evil Taliban" had eradicated the Afghan supply of opium-poppy production in just one year. This was reported in May of 2001, a full four months before 9/11.

Now, after over a decade of US occupation, the opium and heroin market thrives once again in Afghanistan, supplying three fourths of the world's opium and most of the heroin to Europe.

The only reasonable conclusion that one can draw from this is that some US officials appear to want this crop intact. Just one more reason why the War On Terror is a fraud.

When you understand this premise, it's easy to understand how the unscrupulous rich of this country could take over our currency system in 1913, or topple Wall Street in 1929 and start the great depression; because they owned the newspapers, printing presses and the major publishing firms. Do you really think they would detail their crimes for us in their newspapers, books and publications?

As the saying goes, those that don't understand history are doomed to repeat it. So maybe Americans might want to look a little harder at the 2008 Wall Street crash and today's economic collapse. Folks, they are running the exact same scam today that they did in their first attempt to takeover in 1933. The push here is not towards socialism, but a fascist state that favors corporate control and big money. After all, who got bailed out, the bankers and corporations, or US homeowners? The billionaires of this country doubled their income under the Bush-Cheney administration, and now they want even more. Don't believe it? Just look at history.

The idea has been floated that states should secede from the union and we should have a new American Revolution. Let me offer a few reasons why that is not our best option and should be a very last resort. First off, the only thing standing in the way of the new world order is the heavily armed people of the US. The criminals behind the evil NWO, like the Rothschilds and the Rockefellers, would like nothing more than to dissolve the United States. That makes their job that much easier.
